meet the Maker
Hi, I’m Narelle—the owner and maker behind Sewrenity.
My love of sewing began in childhood, and it’s been a comforting thread running through my life ever since. Sewing brings me a sense of calm and peace, which is exactly where the name Sewrenity comes from. It’s more than just a business—it’s a reflection of my values, my creativity, and my belief in the power of handmade things to bring joy, confidence, and connection.
Mental health is something close to my heart, and one of my hopes for Sewrenity is to help foster positive body image by offering well-fitting, thoughtfully made products in the colours and styles people truly love—at prices that feel fair and accessible. I pride myself on creating high-quality pieces that meet your exact needs. There’s no mass production here—just me, my sewing machine, and a whole lot of love and care poured into every stitch.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to costume work for film productions—some of which have gone on to win Best Costume awards. It’s been an incredible honour to see my craftsmanship play a part in bringing characters to life on screen, and it’s a testament to the versatility and precision I bring to every project, big or small.
My studio is a haven of creativity and conscience, where sustainability and slow fashion guide everything I do. I use reclaimed and natural fabrics whenever I can, and I’m passionate about making items that last—both in quality and in meaning. I welcome one-off custom orders and also love collaborating with other small businesses on small-batch runs. You’ll also find a curated selection of ready-made items in my online shop, from bags and cushions to clothing and more.
My favourite thing to sew? Usually whatever I’m working on at the moment! I thrive on variety and always say: if it can be sewn, I’ll be more than happy to sew it for you.
That said, the projects closest to my heart are the ones I’ve made for my kids. Now that they’re older, they know exactly what they want—like my daughter’s “cupcake” hoodie—and seeing their joy when they wear something we dreamed up together is just magic.
I’ve also made many pieces for myself over the years, and I love that sewing allows me to create unique, better-fitting garments in the colours and patterns I adore. I’m especially drawn to vintage florals and rich tones like mustard and turquoise. One of my favourite makes is a dress with princess seams and a back tie detail—the fit, the colour, the feel of it—it’s everything I love about sewing for myself.
When I’m not at my sewing machine, you’ll likely find me in the garden (always a work in progress!) or curled up with a good book. If there’s something special you’d love to have made, I’d be delighted to hear from you.
